16 Ways You Can Help International Student and Scholars in San Francisco.

  1. "Friends International” - Thursdays 7:30 or "Lunch with Friends" Thursday at noon in the SFSU student Center or Tuesdays Noon at SFCC to connect with students.

  2. Airport Pick-up team – for newly arriving students and take them to their first residence in San Francisco.

  3. Campus Director – at University of San Francisco, Art Institute of California, Academy of Art University, City College of SF, or San Francisco State University. Each campus has over 1,200 international students from over 100 countries.

  4. Mentor or provide internships - to a student studying in your field of expertise.

  5. Driving Students – Most students do not own a car so one could offer shopping trips. Help students go on our annual Sierra/Yosemite church home stay weekends. Teach a student to drive!

  6. Church Team Trainer - in cross-cultural and relational skills.

  7. Conversation Partner "1-2-1" - 1 hour, every 2 weeks, for 1 semester.

  8. Holiday meals – invite a couple of students into your family's traditions at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter.

  9. Provide Food or Care Packages – prepares or purchases food for one of our many welcome or holiday events.

  10. Prayer Team – receive regular email prayer updates for local needs.

  11. Church Team Leader – help recruit and build a team of volunteers in your church.

  12. Financial Team member – Invest financially so this strategic ministry can mobilize more volunteers and provide more services.

  13. ESL Teacher – teach various levels of "English as a Second Language" to a scholar's spouse.

  14. Culture Night can be held at local churches, invite students to share about their countries.

  15. Temporary Home-stay - host for a day or longer depending on if it is a newly arriving student, a student intern, visiting student or parents in country for graduation.

  16. American Adventure” - Include students and scholars in the plans you or your small group may already have, sports, hikes, holiday parties, movie nights, hikes, beach bonfire, community service project.
